Jemma & James’ Rustic Boho Celebration at the Oak Grove Wedding Venue

The following is based on a questionnaire sent to me by the couple.

The Oak Grove wedding venue near Upchurch in Kent played host to the love story of Jemma & James and their wedding. The couple met ten years prior in a bar in their local town and have been inseparable ever since.

James is an avid Charlton fan, and Jemma loves television and films (I’m not surprised Jemma …. Charlton, seriously, James?)

The proposal was a gushy moment during a west coast road trip in San Diego. James had planned to propose to Jemma but had to put it off for a few days as their friends got engaged on the same day. Finally, he found the perfect moment after a lovely meal and popped the question on their private balcony.

The Oak Grove wedding venue was chosen for its unique, outdoorsy, simple feel. The venue was also local, making it easier for older relatives to attend. Jemma and James wanted their guests to have a good time with good music, food, and drinks. They aimed for rustic, boho vibes, and the theme was reflected in their decor and style choices.

Their best decision – The couple’s best decision in planning was to have 2 live bands and a videographer (Their words, not mine – Andy :-). Although they didn’t initially have a videographer due to budget constraints, they saved more due to the pandemic, bringing their memories to life.

The hardest decision was the guest list, trying to please everyone.

Their favourite memories of the day were just being together and spending time as a couple.

Their top advice for other couples planning their wedding is to do what they want, not others, spend the money as they see fit and not let anyone dictate their day.

How did Andy do? ‘Andy was great!!! He really put us at ease on the day. He gave us direction, which helped as we didn’t know what to do or how to pose! We love our videos; they will show memories that will last forever. Also, we love the idea of showing our future kids and grandkids our wedding, which we couldn’t do without Andy! ‘

ANDREW MOORE – I was so grateful to have been asked to film Jemma & James’ wedding; it was a joy and why I love this job so much.
